Randpeer

Randpeer is a project to make a p2p-programming library. The Randpeer library will allow software engineers to easily create very advanced peer-to-peer applications. Applications that are fully distributed, totally serverless, fully scalable, globally searchable, bandwidth efficient, robust, encrypted and stealthy.

The Randpeer p2p-programming library will contain algorithms and APIs that enables applications such as filesharing, chat, instant messaging, Internet telephoning, radio and TV (sent from a single home user computer to a billion nodes), distributed calculation systems and many more applications. That is, the library will contain the communications functions such programs need to be able to run totally serverless.

Technology

The algorithms and technology are based on many years of research. To read more about the research and the algorithms see the other pages on this web site.

Licensing

The Randpeer p2p-programming library will be available free of charge for anyone making free software. (Exact type of license is not yet decided.) Commercial licensing will also be available.

Status of the Randpeer project

We finished our research in the summer of 2006. We now have the algorithms we need for what we want to do. We are now implementing the library. However it will take at least a year from now until the first release, perhaps more. And much more until all our algorithms and modules have been implemented. It will take whatever time it takes. We aim for quality, not quantity.
